  • Input and display:

    You may enter a string in Beta Code (the TLG transliteration scheme) with or without accents and breathings or Greek (Unicode). The search results will be displayed in Unicode Greek.

  • Search features:

    • [1] Headword Search. Enter a dictionary headword to view the corresponding LSJ entry. You may enter beta code (the TLG transliteration scheme) or Unicode Greek.

      • Search meanings and Greek

    • [2] Search Meanings: click on the link "Meanings" if you wish to search the dictionary definitions (in English). For example if you enter the word 'sea', you will be presented with a list of dictionary entries where the word "sea" appears.

    • [3] Search the Greek text within the entries. Click on "Greek" to search Greek words within the entries.

  • TLG Login:

    If you are a TLG subscriber you can browse and search TLG texts while using tthe lexicon. Most citations are hyperlinked to the TLG text of Homer. A subscription to the TLG is not necessary since both the Iliad and the Odyssey are part of the Abridged version and can be browsed without a subscription.
