Damaged and Lost CD ROM Policy

A TLG® licensee is granted a limited license by the Regents of the University of California to make use of the TLG's compact disks for a specified period of time, and under conditions articulated in the TLG® license agreement; the CD ROM remains property of the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae. TLG licensees are expected to exercise proper care in handling, using, and storing the TLG CD ROM.

Policies Regarding Damaged CD ROMs

While CD ROMs are relatively rugged data storage devices, they can be damaged by careless handling (e.g., dropping, improper insertion into a compact disk unit, or scratching of the surface). Replacements for disks clearly damaged by improper handling will be provided at a cost of $50.00 plus mailing costs. Defective disks will be replaced at no cost.

The damaged (or defective) disk must be returned to the TLG before a replacement is shipped.

Policies Regarding Lost or Stolen CD ROMs

TLG® licensees must guard against loss or theft of their CD ROMs at all times. Like an expensive printed volume which--if lost or stolen--will not be replaced by a publisher free of charge, a lost or stolen TLG CD ROM cannot be replaced at the TLG's expense.

Licensees are expected to notify the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae immediately, and in writing, in the event that a TLG CD ROM is lost or stolen. Upon such notification, the license at issue will be cancelled. Should the licensee desire continued use of TLG texts on CD ROM, a new license will be issued. Payment of a standard five-year TLG license fee is required for such a new license. The new license period will commence at the time the new CD ROM is issued.
